Mums Yoga – a postnatal class for when you’re ready to get back on the mat

Mums Yoga at Lime House is a gentle, supportive, postnatal space for mums — and any parent or carer — to return to their practice while keeping baby close. It is not a baby-led class, but rather an opportunity for you to move, breathe, and reconnect with your body after birth. As long as you’ve had your 6-week check-up (or ideally 12 weeks after a c-section), you’re welcome. Babies of all ages are invited too: from tiny non-movers to busy pre-schoolers. It can be a little chaotic at times, but that’s part of the magic — a class that bends around real life, not the other way around.

Our teacher, Louise McCutcheon, a mum of three, brings warmth, humour, and deep experience to every session of Mums Yoga. She understands the shifts of postpartum life and creates a supportive environment where you can stretch, strengthen, rest, or simply be, depending on what you need that day. After class, many mums stay for coffee, cake, and conversation in our cosy reception area — a chance to make friends, share stories, or simply enjoy being part of a welcoming community.

We consider the studio a safe space for mums and babies every day of the week, especially if you need time and room to breastfeed, settle your little one, or take a quiet moment for yourself – there is usually someone here to welcome you but you can always call the studio on 07774311227 to check if you are passing and need somewhere to stop.

As a Mum, Louise teaches from a place of lived experience. In her own words, “It’s a space for Mums to practice yoga without having to find a baby sitter. The babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers can join in or just potter about. It can be chaotic but after a couple of sessions the children find their groove and you will definitely find some peace. I will guide you through a gentle vinyasa class and help out with the little ones as much as possible.

Louise McCutcheon

Louise has been practicing and studying yoga for over 15 years. Immersing herself in Anusara yoga, then qualifying as a Vinyasa Flow teacher in 2016. She is a soulful vinyasa yoga teacher who seamlessly weaves ancient myths, sacred mudras, and empowering mantras into her transformative classes. With a heart steeped in wisdom, she draws upon the rich tapestry of yogic traditions to create a unique and enchanting experience on the mat.

Guided by the power of myth, Louise’s classes transcend the physical asanas, delving into the spiritual essence of yoga. Through captivating storytelling, she connects her students to the timeless wisdom of ancient deities and archetypes, inspiring them to discover their inner strength and potential.

Mudras, the symbolic hand gestures, hold a special place in Louise’s practice. Skillfully incorporating these gestures into her sequences, she empowers her students to channel prana (life force) and invoke balance and harmony within themselves.

In the sacred space of her classes, mantra becomes a powerful tool for transformation. Louise introduces her students to sacred chants, using their vibrational energy to create a harmonious resonance that opens hearts and elevates spirits.

She skillfully combines Myth, Mantra & Mudra with a carefully considered selection of poses in a graceful Vinyasa flow. The way she sets the scene with stories and music invites you on a gentle journey with your practice that will leave you feeling inspired. Her calming voice, clear instructions and focus on breathing techniques help her students to quieten their minds and listen to their inner truth.

A seeker of knowledge herself, Louise constantly deepens her understanding of yoga philosophy, mythology, and the healing power of mudras and mantras. Her dedication to personal growth radiates through her teaching, inspiring her students to embark on their own spiritual journeys.

Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or a newcomer to the mat, Louise’s classes invite you to embark on a soul-stirring adventure, where the union of myth, mudra, and mantra paves the way for self-discovery and profound transformation. Step onto the sacred ground of your mat, and you’ll find yourself enchanted by the magical world of yoga that she artfully crafts for all who seek wisdom, healing, and inner peace.
