Our monthly Aerial Yoga workshops

Here at Lime House Yoga, our resident Aerial Yoga teacher Nayomi Webb offers three different types of Aerial Yoga workshops from you to choose from:

1. Aerial Yoga Flow – 1hr 30 mins

Aerial Yoga Flow is the most dynamic of our Aerial offerings. These workshops are based on fitness and fun, learning new sequences, flying yoga postures, aerial yoga flow techniques alongside anatomical yoga themes that focus on specific muscle groups / areas of the body.

In these Aerial Yoga Flow sessions we target the centrally located area of the body using the muscles that make up the core connected to ‘self-worth‘ & ‘optimism‘. We also fire up the glutes and hamstrings with strengthening and stretching exercises, enhancing & toning the muscles that propel us forwards…a fun and active flow finishing with relaxing aerial yoga back-relief techniques and inversion therapy.

2. Aerial Yoga Restorative – 1hr 30 mins

Our Restorative Aerial workshops are about decompression, detoxing and expanding into the back space – unlocking the hips and opening the heart. We want to be kind to the spine, looking at alignment and safe inversions.

We focus on gently mobilising places in the body that sometimes get stuck and allow the postures to help ease painful areas such as the neck and lower back.
A restorative yet rejuvenating session that is all about the good ‘feels’!

3. Aerial Yin & Sound Baths – 2hr 15 mins

In our final Aerial offerings, Nayomi is joined by fellow teacher and sound healer Siobhán McDonnell Byrne to bring you a practice in deeper relaxation, deeper breathing and deeper in a more peaceful connection to the inner self.

Aerial Yin Yoga is a passive practice which allows you to feel a sense of weightlessness while suspended in your hammock. You will hold the postures for longer periods of time, helping to reduce tension and stress within the body and mind.

After a Yin practice, whilst still cocooned safely in your silk hammock, you will experience a relaxing Sound Bath. Let the sounds and vibrations from crystal & Tibetan bowls, gongs, chimes and more, wash away any residual emotional, mental or physical stress.

The combination of the subtle movements of swaying in the hammock combined with the healing sounds and vibrations of the Aerial Sound Bath will have you floating to a blissful place, leaving you feeling calmer and rejuvenated for days to come from a truly unforgettable experience.

Join us for this unique healing experience.

“Aerial Yoga is, for me, a way to tune in and feel present. When I allow myself to completely trust and let go, the flow of postures and sequenced movement can be extremely therapeutic and meditative.” Nayomi Webb, Aerial Yoga teacher

Aerial Yoga

About

  • Also known as anti-gravity or flying yoga, Aerial Yoga is a unique form of yoga that combines traditional yoga poses, pilates and dance with the use of a yoga hammock suspended from the ceiling.
  • Aerial Yoga allows you to explore a wide range of movements and poses in the air, offering a different perspective and adding an element of playfulness and creativity to your yoga practice.
  • The aerial hammock acts as a lifting support, drawing the weight and energy of the body off the ground, creating a sense of being held and nurtured.
  • Fun and acrobatic, Aerial Yoga defies gravity and allows you to perform various yoga poses that may be difficult on the ground, but easier in mid-air.
  • Aerial Yoga can also help improve many aspects of everyday life, including increasing confidence & overcoming fears.

Sometimes our inner child gets lost in the demands of adulthood. Aerial Yoga brings the inner child alive as it lifts yoga off the mat and into the air. It’s definitely not about how it looks, but all about how it feels and can bring out a light, playful energy. Guaranteed to leave you with beaming smiles and a spring in your step!

Benefits

  • Improved flexibility and strength: Aerial yoga requires the use of various muscle groups to stabilise and move in the air. This helps to increase flexibility, strength, and overall muscle tone.
  • Spinal decompression: Hanging upside down or in various inverted poses allows for gentle traction and decompression of the spine, which can help soothe and alleviate back pain and improve spinal alignment.
  • Core strengthening: Many aerial yoga poses engage the core muscles, leading to a stronger and more stable core.
  • Increased body awareness: Aerial yoga challenges practitioners to find balance and control in a suspended environment, promoting body awareness and coordination.
  • Stress relief and relaxation: Aerial yoga incorporates elements of mindfulness and deep breathing, helping to reduce stress, increase relaxation, and promote mental well-being.
  •  It can also aid digestion and can even improve memory!

It’s important to note that aerial yoga is a physically demanding practice and may not be suitable for everyone. Your teacher is a certified instructor who can guide you through the proper techniques and ensure your safety. Our workshops are designed for complete beginners and then you can gradually progress as you gain strength and confidence in the hammock.

After a life of dance, yoga and movement-based subjects, Nayomi Webb naturally transitioned aerial yoga, having been introduced to it 8 years ago when living and working in the Caribbean.

Nayomi wanted to explore how the traditional yoga postures could be performed in the air and went on to learn her own aerial yoga techniques and style which she now teaches to others.

Movement of many kinds has always been such a huge passion of mine. I’m fascinated with the human body and all of its magic and power. Since a very young age I danced and Physical Education was always my favourite subject in school. I found yoga almost twenty years ago. At first it was the physical side to it that kept me coming back to the mat. After diving deeper into the practice that kept drawing me back, I travelled to Rishikesh in India to explore all of the layers of this wonderful practice. This is where I did my first 200 hour YTT. I’ve been back to India twice since then spending time living in Ashrams to deepen my practice, knowledge and wisdom. There I completed more teacher training and finished my 500 hour YTT. I’m always saving for the next course on ‘my list’ as I’m so passionate about sharing holistic healing practices with anyone and everyone. I’m also a Sound healer and host sound baths and yoga retreats in Cornwall. It’s my absolute passion in life to help people feel at home in their bodies, minds and spirit. I truly believe movement is medicine and I love to bring people on a beautiful journey of yoga asana where we feel a complete energetic shift. Nothing beats that post yoga class high. I look forward to seeing you on the mat.
