Silent meditation day
Silent Meditation Day
Join us for a day of quiet contemplation, yin yoga and enriching meditation to take your practice to a deeper level. From 10 am until 3:30 pm we will observe mouna (silence) apart from instruction from the teacher. This provides an opportunity for you to completely tune into self for deep exploration into your inner world as we let go of external distractions and rest deeply in the stillness of the group energy.
The day will begin with a short introduction to the four foundations of mindfulness and guidance on how to incorporate them into your practice. We will then move through some yin yoga poses to open the hips for sitting. The sessions will be 30 minutes long; some guided, some silent and some walking meditations to connect with nature. A healthy lunch of hearty soup and salad will be served, followed by a delicious dessert. The day will end with chai and an opportunity to share your experiences.
Not for complete beginners to meditation.
What to bring:
- Wet weather gear for the unpredictable English weather
- Warm comfortable clothes – layers and warm socks are a good idea
- A water bottle
- A watch – preferably a quiet one!
- If you bring a mobile phone, please keep it switched off and leave it in your car
About your Teacher: Kali Pearce
My deep connection with Yoga and Meditation began many years ago with a regular Kundalini & Ashtanga Yoga practice. My passion and quest for knowledge took me to India to study Hatha Yoga with Guru Swami Santhi Prasad, and more in depth studies of Vinyasa, Hatha & Pranayama with inspirational teachers, Heather Elton; and Liza, James & Rory from Tribe Yoga.
As part of my explorative journey to develop a deeper meditation practice, I attended a few vipassana silent meditation retreats which sparked a profound interest in Buddhist mindfulness meditation. Urged by the transformational effects of the practice, I went on to study Yin Yoga & Insight Meditation with Sarah Powers. Along with regular practice, I draw inspiration from wisdom teachers such as: Thich Nhat Hanh, Bhante Gunaratana & The Dalai Lama.
As a surfer, nature lover, healthy eating advocate, green living activist and training in fitness and nutrition, I promote Yoga & health as a holistic way of life and enjoy sharing my passion and enthusiasm with others through my work.
My yoga classes incorporate mindfulness with an emphasis on breath and energy awareness to assist ‘going within’ to draw out the gold from your practice. Themed classes are carefully pieced together using asana, pranayama and occasionally mantra to cultivate a deep connection with your inner being through both dynamic and slow reflective practice to encourage a more spiritual experience.
