This relaxing workshop is suitable for all and is ideal for those wanting a slower more rehabilitation based practice. The whole session is spent on the floor – there are no standing postures or vinyasana for this reason this session is suitable for all and particularly suited to those recovering from illness, injury, stress and fatigue syndromes and for those just looking to drop it down a gear and give the gift of relaxation to their minds and bodies.

What Is Restorative Yoga?

It’s time to get cosy yogis! You will arrive to your session and will choose your already-prepared ‘yoga bed’ – a mountain of soft props and supports that will help you to nestle in and surrender into yourself.

Restorative yoga is a form of yoga that seeks to emphasise physical, mental and emotional relaxation with the aid of props. The use of props (cushions, blankets, bolsters and blocks) makes it easier for you to maintain balance while you are stimulating and relaxing your body. While some restorative yoga poses are beneficial to the entire body, others target specific parts of the body, such as the heart or the lungs.

 

Benefits:

Restorative yoga provides healing for the body and the mind. It is especially useful when you need to eliminate fatigue and stress that result from your daily activities. It can also help you recover from illness and injury or overcome emotional stress, depression and anxiety that can be triggered by traumatic events.

Restorative yoga activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which enables automatic control of the body. As such, the regular nervous system will be at rest, and the muscles will become more relaxed. Regular practice of restorative yoga will make your body less vulnerable to stress-related illnesses and help you achieve optimal health.

 

About your Teacher

Aimee is a Yoga Therapist & teacher, holds a Level 3 certificate in Counselling skills, diploma certificate in Yoga Therapy and Level 7 certificate through the Knoff Yoga school. Aimee has published many yoga, health & lifestyle articles, is a ROXY ambassador & artist. Aimee is the founder of Synergy Yoga & has been teaching, 1-2-1 private & group sessions, therapeutic workshops & retreats in & around Newquay for the last 6 years. She currently teaches our Restorative/Yin class at Lime House Yoga on Friday mornings
