Ashtanga Therapeutics

The primary series of Ashtanga Yoga is known in Sanskrit as “Yoga Chikitsa” which translates to “Yoga Therapy.”  Practice of the ashtanga yoga sequence systematically works through the musculoskeletal system, the different organ systems, and the neuro-endocrine system to restore health and bring balance to the body in preparation for more subtle stages of Yoga practice.  In this workshop, we will discuss how to engage the sequence intelligently so that we can reap the many therapeutic benefits of the system.

Yogic Models of Wellness – Pañca Koshas and Cakra Systems

The pañca koshas and cakras represent two models for understanding the person as multi-dimensional beings.  The cakras are a progressive model seeing our spiritual evolution as a hierarchical process of transcendence.  They pañca koshas are a model that see our self-actualization as a process of integration.  Both models can be useful in self-assessment and can guide us on our yogic journey.
