A Journey Through the Forest

A Journey Through the Forest

with Lucinda Pimlott

Meditation and Supper Evening

There are times when we may feel we are lost in life, unsure of our way, doubting ourselves and our ability to see a clear path that will lead us out of our difficulties. Ancient spiritual teachings draw on the symbolism of the forest to guide us through such times of challenge. Dante begins his famous work, ‘The Inferno’, with this line:
“Midway upon the journey of our life I found myself within a forest dark, for the straightforward pathway had been lost”
Daunting as it may seem, finding ourselves in such a predicament is an opportunity for transformation, and indeed we see how Dante, only after facing his fears, finds his way out of the dark forest and back into the light in a kind of awakening.
In this session we will contemplate the symbolism of the forest in the context of spiritual teachings and explore tools for navigating our way through the difficult territory of our inner world. The evening will include dharma talk (teachings) and guided meditation practice, followed by a delicious supper.
