at Lime House Yoga
Lime House Yoga is very blessed to be surrounded by 7 acres of natural Cornish earth and fields. We’re collaborating with our friends at Water & Stone to bring you what we think is Cornwall’s most stunning outdoor sauna experience.
Situated on the edge of our new wild flower field, sown in collaboration with The Eden Project, this outdoor sauna experience boasts views across Penhale dunes all the way to the ocean at Holywell Bay. Watch our resident pair of buzzards float on the wind as you unwind in this remarkable setting, just a stone’s throw from our yoga studio.
Our passion lies in providing a truly authentic sauna experience.
We pride ourselves on using only the best quality saunas imported directly from Lithuania fitted with the most remarkable burners, that have to be experienced to be believed.
The log fired stoves are designed with an internal chamber filled with specially drilled ceramic stones that have a larger surface area than regular stones. When water is poured into this chamber it produces a higher quality steam that is intense but not scolding. This unique style of stove creates the perfect balance of steam and heat.

Swimwear, two towels and a water bottle. The reason we ask you to bring two towels is that you will need to sit on a towel when you are in the sauna and the other one is to dry yourself afterwards. It’s sauna etiquette to sit on a towel rather than just sweating into the wooden seats. We hire Hammam towels so if you forget to bring a second towel then you can hire one.
We do have plenty of water on site so if if you forget to bring a water bottle then it’s not a problem but please remember to hydrate properly before and after the sauna.
If you wish to use the Sauna privately then please contact us and we can arrange a time for you. Use of the hot tub is possible, at an extra cost and dependent on availability.
We have a sauna master on the team, Nick Tettersall. Nick trained with the Lithuanian Bath Academy. His sauna rituals are much sought after amongst the wellness community all over the UK. Using a combination of sauna rituals and individual bodywork, participants experience relaxation, and for many a feeling of cleansing and shift in their energy.
If you wish to use the book a private Sauna Session then please contact us and we can arrange a time for you.
A Sauna Ritual is a multi-sensory sauna experience that lasts approximately 2 hours. Each ritual usually has between 6-12 participants, depending on the size of the sauna.
I guide you through 4 rounds in and out of the sauna, using the elements as inspiration. Based on Lithuanian Pirtis techniques, there will be whisking, salt infusions and handmade body scrubs, foraged in and around Cornwall.
Whisks are small bundles of leaves, made from Birch or Oak, and other tree species. They are an integral part of sauna. When used on the body, they will release nutrients into the skin, help blood-flow, and have mood boosting properties.
Each ritual is guided intuitively and led by the heart, reflecting the needs and energy of the group participants. A hot and cold therapy session that will leave you feeling relaxed, rejuvenated, and reconnected to yourself, to others, and to Nature.
Follow the signs to Lime House Yoga (What three words: ///promotion.jacuzzi.fragments ) and once parked head to the far end of the car parking field where you’ll find the new home of Water and Stone. Here you’ll find a collection of converted horse boxes, an old railway carriage, a waney edged wooden cabin and of course the beautiful wooden shingle covered sauna. Each of these quirky spaces has either been lovingly restored and repurposed or bespoke built.
Sit on a towel – For hygiene reasons please sit on a towel or whilst lying down. It will also be more comfortable. If you only bring one towel you can hire a Hammam towel. They cost £4 to hire.
Dress code – Remember we’re British! Unless you’re booking a private session then swimwear or a Hamman towel to cover your modesty is to be worn at all times.
Pouring water onto the rocks of the stove – When you pour water on the sauna’s heated rocks it creates a lot of steam that you might absolutely love however others may find it too much to handle so please get an unanimous consent before creating steam.
Electronics in the sauna – Please leave your electronics outside of the sauna. Apart from steam not doing electronics any good it’s the not the appropriate place to listen to music or take photographs.
Make room for others – Sitting down takes priority over laying down, so if you’re lying down and other people come into the sauna please sit up. No one wants your head or feet next them when they are trying to relax
Please read through the FAQ’s below because your question has probably been asked before. We’ve tried to answer as many as we can but obviously if you haven’t found the answer you’re looking for then we’d love to hear from you.

Beyond pleasure and relaxation, emerging evidence suggests that sauna bathing has several health benefits, which include reduction in the risk of vascular diseases such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease (CVD), stroke, and neurocognitive diseases; nonvascular conditions such as pulmonary diseases including common flu; mortality; treatment of specific skin conditions; as well as pain in conditions such as rheumatic diseases and headache.*

People with kidney problems, inflammation or acute infections, heart failure or heart disease, as well as problems with dizziness, are some indications in which the sauna must/should be dispensed with. Not every disease picture and every expression can be discussed in detail here. Please consult with your doctor if you have an illness, whether sauna is suitable for you or what points you may need to consider when sauna bathing.
Swimwear. We don’t allow naked sauna bathing. If you would like to go naked then you can book a private sauna session. Contact us for details
The traditional woollen sauna hats are to stop your head from burning so that you can stay in the sauna for longer.
