This week-long yoga retreat in tenerife is designed to rejuvenate your body, mind, and soul. Designed to honour your individual yoga practice with a focus on posture and alignment to support a lifetime of safe and enjoyable practice.
This yoga retreat in Tenerife is suitable for all. Beginners and experienced students alike will find a safe and nurturing space to become familiar with your own body, understand how it moves and its potential. Jock’s particular interest is in individualised alignment, anatomy and adjustment. He will help you to better understand how your body moves and how to harness its full potential. Supporting you to go deeper into your practice in a way which is safe and suitable for your own body. He has many years of experience in supporting recovery from injury and illness and can tailor and modify the practice to suit each person’s physical and emotional needs.
Each day will start with a morning meditation followed by a dynamic and energising led practice. There is the option for lots of adjustments suitable for your body and practice. The practice will focus on how the relationship of your breath is inextricably linked to every movement and you will come away from the week having learnt the safest alignment for your body. When you learn how to practice in harmony with your body type and capabilities you support a lifetime of safe and enjoyable practice.
The afternoon workshop sessions will be a chance to focus on specific areas of the body and work on postures, which you may not have the confidence to practice at home. One of Jock’s skills is breaking down complex postures so that the impossible become possible. There will be a focus on the energetic and physical alignment in the Asanas, the importance of breath in your practice and the benefits of using the bandhas. Come with an open mind and be prepared to learn and laugh in equal measure!

Finca Naranjas ( previously Cristoforo) , our retreat centre is a very simple yet beautiful place, built by an architect named Denis Devaris, who had an intention to create a meeting point for Spiritual seekers. Built slowly over 30 years using volcanic rocks from the island, the rooms are all unique with their own distinct personalities featuring beautiful details and personal touches. Given the nature of these types of buildings, imperfection is to be expected with a plumbing system not quite up to modern standards! However, set right into the land with a wonderfully lush garden, Cristoforo really is an oasis in South Tenerife. When packing for your retreat, make sure you add warmer clothes. From December till March the mornings and evenings can be quite chilly. The rooms are not heated, but are equipped with cozy duvets and hot water bottles for the beds. All rooms are equipped with a water kettle.
Currently the internet at the retreat is not reliable. If you are dependent on internet for work, we ask you to bring your own data on your phone, to which you can connect your laptop, if needed. Phones work very well. There is also a cafe 10 minutes from the retreat with good internet, however, it is a busy cafe and not very suitable for work.
The meals The food served at the retreat will be mainly vegan and completely vegetarian, prepared freshly everyday by our wonderful retreat chefs. We try were possible to use local and organic products. We sometimes use eggs or dairy in the kitchen. If you have food allergies/sensitivities, please let us know. Gluten free options are available. We have a self service tea & coffee station for guest use and try to provide fruit for snacking during the day. You have the option to enjoy your food either inside or outside in the beautiful garden.
The practice Maximum number of students is 25.
Practice will take place inside the beautiful wooden garden Shala. Savasana is usually taken outside to make space in the Shala, especially during full retreats and occasionally afternoon workshops will take place outside. Make sure you pack warm practice clothes for Savasana.

It is said that we all come to healing in our own time and this was true for me when in 2000, I fell down a mountain snowboarding, breaking my back in four places and shattering my collarbone. After numerous unsuccessful operations, I decided to take matters into my own hands so that I might stand a chance of being mobile by the time I hit forty.
I began a regular yoga practice and as the ancient saying goes, ‘When the student is ready the teacher will appear.’ I moved back to Cornwall at the same time as Bridget Woods-Kramer, a world renowned Anusara teacher. I did my first two teacher trainings with no intention of ever teaching yoga, I just wanted to further my knowledge for my own practice. It was Bridget who dropped the bombshell on me that she needed cover for a Saturday class that forced me into teaching my first class. I was completely terrified………but I loved it!
I spent six years studying and teaching with Bridget and have developed a style that is physically challenging with attention to posture and alignment and above all, playful. My experience has taught me to cherish the physical practice of yoga, but it is the connection between mind, body and soul that inspires my practice. Over the last decade, my personal practice has moved towards Ashtanga and I have undertaken Ashtanga teacher trainings with David Swenson, Manju Jois and John Scott.
I have been teaching for 20 years and over this time I feel deeply privileged to have been taught by some of the worlds best teachers from a range of different schools of yoga, including Richard Freeman, David Williams, Sianna Shermann, Rod Stryker, Doug Keller, Bruce Bowditch, John Friend, Nancy Gilgoff, and Doug Swenson. In my classes I call upon the teachings of all of my teachers to best serve my own students, with a blend of the styles, techniques and adjustments I’ve learnt along my yoga journey. I am also co-founder and director of Lime House Yoga with my partner Emma and a dad to two wonderful children who constantly inspire and challenge me to be more present in the world and on my mat.
Join Jock’s classes at Lime House on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and Thursday and Saturday mornings.
