Extended Weekend Retreat in Magical Scotland
This retreat is designed to honour your individual yoga practice with a focus on posture and alignment to support a lifetime of safe and enjoyable practice. The morning classes will be dynamic and energising with adjustments suitable for your body and practice. The afternoon sessions will be a chance to focus on specific areas of the body and try out new and exciting postures, which you may not have the confidence to practice at home. We will focus on the energetic and physical alignment in the asanas, the importance of breath in your practice and the benefits of using the bandhas. Be prepared to learn and laugh in equal measure!
This retreat is suitable for both beginners and experienced students alike, providing a safe and nurturing space to become familiar with your own body, understand how it moves and it’s potential. Jock’s particular interest is in alignment, anatomy and adjustment and he is often able to support students to go much deeper into their practice. He has many years of experience in supporting recovery from injury and illness and is able to tailor and modify the practice to suit each person’s physical and emotional needs.
Yoga /Accommodation Price Breakdown
The price shown comprises the accommodation cost (£595.00) plus the yoga teacher’s fee (£100.00). This is the total cost of your retreat. When you book this retreat you pay only for the accommodation and you pay the yoga teacher separately when you arrive here. Keeping these payments separate allows us to keep costs to a minimum.
Jock has been teaching since 2003 and co-founded Lime House Yoga in Cornwall with his partner Emma. His journey to yoga came after falling down a mountain snowboarding in 2000, breaking his back in four places and shattering his collarbone. After numerous unsuccessful operations he began a regular yoga practice that enabled him to heal from his injuries and astonished the medical practitioners who had tried and failed to put him back together!
He went on to train with Bridget Woods-Kramer, a world-renowned Anusara teacher with whom he spent six years studying and teaching. In the last three years his personal practice has moved towards Ashtanga and he’s undertaken teacher trainings with David Swenson and Manju Jois, whom he recently assisted at Stillpoint Yoga in London. His primary teacher and friend is John Scott, with whom he has undertaken Level 2 Ashtanga teacher training and practices regularly. Jock is one of the few teachers to receive the 500hr certification from John Scott Yoga to teach the primary and intermediate series of Ashtanga yoga.
He has developed a style that is physically challenging with attention to posture and alignment and above all, playful. His experience has taught him to cherish the physical practice of yoga, but it is the connection between mind and body that inspires his practice.
The food for this retreat will be prepared by our very own Lime House chef, Emma. Her food is now reaching cult status with such comments as, ‘You could settle world conflicts with this food!’, ‘ and she is regularly threatned with kidnap at the end of a retreat with students wanting to take her home!
Breakfast will be a buffet including homemade granola, fresh bread, fruit, natural yoghurt, fresh tortilla or Shasuka, lunch comprises home made soup and bread. Dinner will depend on what’s in season and how we feel, we might warm you up with freshly spiced curries, mixed vegetable paella, mushroom risotto, vegetable mousakka, spinach and ricotta filo pie or cool you down with roasted veg/garlic tart, sweet potato falafels and dips served with a selection of our salads – roasted carrot, beetroot and fennel, vegan coleslaw, Asian spiced kale or tabouleh. Dessert could be poached pears, elderflower and pistachio drizzle cake, raw chocolate cheesecake or a good old-fashioned apple crumble.

The food was fantastic, the room and house wonderful, clean and warm. The service is the best I’ve had. And I haven’t even started on the yoga yet, which has been so good. The teachers are not only experienced but teach really well. Will definitely come back.

Food, accommodation all luxurious with the added extra ingredient of love sprinkled over the top! The studio is lovely with its picturesque setting and you can’t help but be made to feel welcome. Thank you for providing a safe space that we could all relax, unwind, laugh and have fun.
Cooking was fab, accommodation is very comfortable and treatments were fun and relaxing. But the best part is the relaxed and warm atmosphere – thank you for being so welcoming!
